Anna not only works professionally as a stage manager, but is married to one as well! Anna and her husband Phil are currently enjoying working together at the Dallas Theater Center where Anna is a regular AEA Stage Manager and Phil is the Associate Production Manager.
Anna Baranski is a Graduate from the University of California, Irvine, with a MFA in Stage Management. Anna completed her undergraduate degree at Texas Christian University with a B.F.A. in Theatre production.
Anna began her career in the Dallas/Fort Worth area where she took advantage of every internship, stage management observation, and production assistant opportunity that she could. She especially enjoyed her time with the Dallas Theater Center, Circle Theater, Theater Arlington, Casa Mañana, and Kids Who Care.
In 2011 Anna moved to sunny southern California, where she began her studies at UC Irvine. Grad school was an extremely rewarding experience, where Anna was able to hone her stage management skills and gain the confidence and leadership needed for the fast paced world of professional theater
While in California Anna had the opportunity to shadow several touring shows at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts including The Million Dollar Quartet and The Wizard of Oz. Anna also worked with Musical Theater West on their yearly joint effort with Wilson High School (Part of The Long Beach Unified School District) to create a fully produced musical. Musical Theater West partners with professional designers, stage managers, and directors to create an educational experience in which the end goal is a full scale production in which the high school students make up the cast and crews.
Anna has a love for Shakespeare, and her master’s thesis topic was Stage Managing Shakespeare in Repertory. She particularly enjoyed her time working with the Trinity Shakespeare Festival, and Texas Shakespeare Festival, as part of her research.
In 2014 Anna had the pleasure of working at the Guthrie in Minneapolis on their production of Born Yesterday, and discovered her love of crisp Autumn weather and the people of Minneapolis.
In 2015 Anna became the Performing Arts Coordinator of the Windmill Performing Arts Center, a part of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, where she ran a 300 seat theater. Her responsibilities included creating the facility’s calendar, coordinating rentals of the venue, contracting outside artists, and maintaining the theater space. She also worked with community organizations to provide free programming, including new play readings, workshops, and concerts. She is especially proud of creating a partnership with The Neon Museum, and organizing several special events and lectures with their fantastic creative team.
Currently Anna is a regular season Stage Manager for the Dallas Theater Center, a LORT B regional Theater. Anna loves working with everyone there and enjoys the art she is helping to create.
In addition to working at the Dallas Theater Center Anna works freelance for other Regional Theaters around the country, and continues to work in the Corporate Theater world for MJM Creative.
